Position Summary:The County Extension Educator position is an exempt professional staff role within UGA Cooperative Extension responsible for managing the many resources offered by the county office. This work typically carries major responsibilities within the local County Extension office. The Extension Educator coordinates and distributes time as needed for the satisfactory delivery of the 4-H county program. A high level of independent judgment used to effectively carry out the essential duties of the job and the incumbent is expected to manage both Extension program administration and 4-H education delivery by developing techniques and procedures as appropriate. It is under the supervision of the County Extension Coordinator.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies:Good communication skills – oral and written. Ability to work with diverse population. Knowledge of Cooperative Extension 4-H program activities. Computer skills, including Microsoft Word. Self-starter and keep accurate and organized records. Ability to work independently or in a team.
Physical Demands:Some degree of physical activity, including lifting, to conduct programs (e.g., handling animals, supplies and demonstration materials, audio/visual equipment, etc.). Some standing and/or sitting for various lengths of time. Working in various seasonal weather conditions for outside activities.

Duties/Responsibilities:Conduct in-school club educational meetings and deliver prepared curriculums that meet state (Georgia Professional Standards) guidelines. Incorporate the results of program evaluations and feedback in planning future programs and techniques used in implementing programs.

Duties/Responsibilities:Help 4-H club members preparation for competitive events, such as: project achievement, judging teams, etc. Transport or arrange for transportation of 4-H’ers to various district and state events, and if assigned, provide leadership for youth while attending these important events.

Duties/Responsibilities:Identify, recruit, and help train involved and recognized 4-H volunteers in planning, teaching, and evaluating Cooperative Extension 4-H programs. Assist interested volunteers in successful completion of the 4-H Chaperone Training. These trainings may include the following divisions of County 4-H programs: Archery Team, Horse Club, Shooting Sports and Show Teams (hogs, cows, sheep, and goats), depending on county programs.

Duties/Responsibilities:Make reports to appropriate clientele, staff members, Board of Education, Board of Commissioners, and public officials through electronic mass media (county website, internet, etc.), personal contracts, and/or group meetings. Submit accurate, complete reports in timely manner in Georgia Counts, 4-H enrollment, and District office.

Duties/Responsibilities:Assist staff with day-to-day operations of Cooperative Extension county office by answering phone, processing mail, distributing publications, greeting visitors, filing documents, etc.
