Job FieldThe Joint Department of Medical Imaging (JDMI) at the University Health Network, a University of Toronto teaching hospital, seeks applicants for the inaugural Director of the PET-MR Imaging Centre. The successful candidate for the position will be expected to be a Molecular Imaging and Cross-sectional Imaging trained radiologist at the forefront of research in Molecular Imaging with a focus on new translational techniques for PET-MRI hybrid imaging of disease and health.  The anticipated start date is July 1, 2016 or when mutually agreed upon.

The successful candidate must have the interpersonal skills necessary to develop and integrate a strong interdisciplinary team, preferably having experience working with industry, and having a proven track record of experimentation, data collection/analysis, academic publication and independent research funding. The candidate must have completed training in Medical Imaging and Molecular Imaging or equivalent degrees in relevant fields of study, and be eligible for academic appointment to the Faculty of Medicine, Department of Medical Imaging at the University of Toronto.  The successful candidate will hold a 50% clinical position as a Radiologist within the JDMI, with 50% time uniquely designated as the Director of the newly opened PET-MRI research centre at UHN.  

The mandate of the Director position is to enhance translational PET-MR Imaging research by building a core interdisciplinary imaging science group, including; clinicians, clinical-scientists, technologists, scientists and trainees.  It is anticipated that the successful candidate will enable the development and promotion of an internationally recognized translational PET-MR imaging research team across UHN that promotes strong clinical partnerships of the JDMI, the Peter Munk Cardiac Centre, the Princess Margaret Cancer Centre, and Krembil Neuroscience Program, and which leverages imaging research infrastructure which includes 1.5T, 3T MR systems, planned 7T MR research centre, as well as a MR/PET – cyclotron – radiopharmacy facility, and pre-clinical imaging facilities within the TECHNA institute.

The PET-MRI Director position will be appointed for a 5 year term, which may be renewed once, to the Joint Department of Medical Imaging. The candidate will be supported through expendable research funds and clinical income.
