Position Summary
An intermediate programmer/event planner level position responsible for the overall event planning of educational, recreational, and cultural awareness programs and activities for the college and/or community. Assists in the coordination of the daily operations of the department. Provides guidance to related staff in organizing projects and events. Provides on-going technical support in planning, researching, developing, and implementing programs and activities for educational, recreational and cultural awareness for the college and community.

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Ability to organize projects in multitasked environment. The ability to travel locally and/or out of state. Requires valid driver’s license. The ability to utilize computer technology to maintain records, generate reports and communicate with others. The ability to plan and implement a variety of well-rounded programs of student extra-curricular activities. The ability to communicate effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds. The ability to provide quality customer service.

Physical Requirements
Ability to lift and carry materials weighing up to 30 pounds. Ability to climb ladders and/or ability to maneuver in order to decorate, serve food, or any other activity required in the set up and take down materials to carry out events on a regular basis. Ability to stand and/or walk for long period of times.

Minimum Knowledge and Experience
Bachelor's degree or higher plus two years of experience in working with clubs and/or organizations, in student programs area, or event planning experience or Associate’s degree plus four years of experience in working with clubs and/organizations, in student programs area or event planning experience. Official transcripts will be required. ***Will be subject to a criminal background check. Some positions may be subject to a fingerprint check. ***

Preferred Skills: Experience in program and project management desired, highly detailed orientated, strong administrative skills, very organized, computer skills (i.e. Office, Excel, powerpoint), strong interpersonal skills, communication both excellent written and verbal skills, ability to meet deadlines, and experience with budget management.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Coordinates implementation of programs and events through interaction with other college staff and students. These program events include those associated with the arts, recreational, and entertainment, goal setting and motivation, multi-cultural awareness, volunteer organizations, etc. Manages and coordinates business details concerned with clubs and department functions including monitoring budget, initiating contracts, negotiation with agents and/or performers, ticket sales, physical arrangements and maintaining associated records and reports. Reviews and approves publicity and promotional materials such as brochures, flyers, posters, etc. Interprets policy and procedures for the DCCCD and external agencies as they apply to departmental functions. Prepares long range plans and projections for co-curricular and extra-curricular programs and services; researches, reviews, and plans programs and events. Prepares statistical reports, maintains files and monitors assigned budget. Responsible for transporting groups of students and staff to off-campus locations for events and/or functions. Assists in the selection of departmental staff and/or lower level programmers/event planners. May develop learning outcomes as it relates to specific programs and events. May maintain assessments and evaluations. Performs related duties as assigned.
