Job Details

GW’s College of Professional Studies (CPS) designs programs with the requirements of adult learners and working professionals in mind. CPS offers undergraduate, graduate, and executive education programs that address the competency requirements of adults working in emerging and rapidly changing professions. CPS programs draw from multiple academic disciplines and are delivered in flexible formats: face-to-face, online, or a blend of both. By combining University faculty experts with accomplished practitioners, CPS is a catalyst for academic innovation, constructing credentials for the workforce that uphold the University’s rigorous standards of academic excellence and respond to the needs of today’s professionals.

This position serves as the CPS marketing, recruitment, and communications advisor to senior leadership, and develops, supervises, and implements digital, visual, and traditional strategies that support the mission and vision of the organization, and promote its programs and people to targeted audiences. This position assumes overall responsibility for developing the annual marketing and communications plan for CPS, including strategic market planning, short- and long-term recruitment plans, market research, a robust digital strategy, budget development, benchmarking and continuous assessment of return on investment based on measurable outcomes and in-depth analytics. This position advises leadership on best practices in marketing and communications and collaborates with faculty and staff to maintain effective communication. This position assesses the marketing opportunities and needs of different programs, develops strategies in collaboration with the enrollment management team (includes marketing and recruiting staff directly managed by the position as well as admissions staff managed by the Director of Admissions), and manages execution. This role uses the resources of the university, including central External Relations, to manage and execute web development, print and online advertising campaigns, magazine production, and other services offered.

Additional responsibilities include managing projects, creating and maintaining project plans, and communicating with key stakeholders on major project deadlines, approvals, and deliverables. This role identifies public relations opportunities that elevate the organization’s profile, including outreach to local and national media, trade, and professional outlets.

This role will directly supervise a team of skilled professionals providing formal and informal leadership and mentoring to further the professional development of staff. The core responsibilities of this role typically include providing leadership and supervision of staff, developing and/or overseeing the development of strategies for various recruitment target areas in conjunction with team leaders, and analyzing external and internal data to develop, implement, and evaluate effective and resource-efficient strategies and tactics for territory management and new market development.

This is a management position at the university that, in addition to leading a work unit, leads and supervises staff directly, makes hiring decisions, provides coaching, training and mentoring, manages performance and determines future staffing needs. This is a single incumbent position for a school or division.

Performs other related duties as assigned. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position.

Degree must be conferred by the start date of the position. Degree requirements may be substituted with an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience implementing and developing new systems and/or programs and executing strategies.
