Job Summary: Under the leadership of the Assistant Vice President for Enrollment Management, the Director of Orientation oversees the implementation, planning and development of programming for all new students, including all orientation programs, new student workshops, and signature events for new students.

Additional Department Summary: The Director supervises all staff including the Associate Director, Assistant Director and Coordinator of Orientation. The position provides administrative direction for the planning, implementation and managing comprehensive high school on-campus recruitment events which includes Sibling Orientation sessions, University Days, Game Days and other special on-campus recruitment events, i.e. Spanish Day, German Day, etc. The Director is responsible for working with the Assistant Director of Admissions for in-state recruitment in expanding the programs that bring Alabama high school students to campus. The Director is responsible for the development, implementation, and assessment of all programs which support new student orientation to the University and enhancing student leadership potential and skills. The Director must oversee a budget of $750,000. Manage expenditures throughout the year to maintain operations within fiscal constraints. Serve as the liaison to appropriate campus departments including, but not limited to, Enrollment Management, the Academic Colleges, Student Affairs, and Academic Support Services.

Required Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree and five (5) years of related work experience OR Master's degree and three (3) years of related work experience.

Skills and Knowledge: Excellent interpersonal skills. The ability to work with different cultures and groups of people.

Preferred Qualifications: Masters degree preferred. Prefer at least three years of supervisory experience. Work experience recruiting and coordinating the work of volunteers (students and Alumni). Experience in admissions work or other related background in higher education administration such as advancement (alumni), student affairs, student involvement, etc.
