Natureof Work:

TheUniversity of Colorado, College of Nursing, is seeking a Front DeskReceptionist for a full-time (1.0 FTE), benefits-eligible position within itsfederally qualified community health center, Sheridan Health Services (SHS), inDenver, CO. This position will primarily provide front desk coverage at thecommunity clinic within behavioral health and psychiatric nursing services butmay provide coverage on an as-needed basis within other programs.


ClinicDescription:

Sheridan Health Services isa multi-site, nurse-managed federally qualified community health center, fundedthrough the Health Resources and Services Administration Bureau of PrimaryHealthcare; and is a collaborative effort between the College of Nursing andthe Sheridan School District. There are now ~50 employees at two convenientlocations to serve community health needs primarily for residents of Sheridan,Englewood, and North Littleton. A Youth Health Clinic is located in theSheridan School District Administration building. The Family Health Clinic islocated in southwest Denver on the Fort Logan campus and provides services toadults and children, 42% of whom have indicated Spanish as their language ofpreference. Services offered include primary care across the lifespan; prenataland postpartum, gynecology, dentistry, pharmacy, behavioral health, andoutpatient substance abuse treatment.  SupervisionReceived:

Workis performed under the general direction and authority of the CEO of SheridanHealth Services.   Direct supervisionwill be provided by the Clinic Operations Manager.

 SupervisionExercised:

None Examplesof Work Performed:

  • Greets patients and their families
  • Answers phone calls and schedules appointments for bothclinic locations
  • Upholds strict compliance with University, College ofNursing and Sheridan Health Services  professional policies and procedures
  • Collects payments from patients for services provided andmakes change where needed
  • Reconciles change bank daily and submits daily deposit anddeposit reconciliation report
  • Inputs patient demographic and insurance data into theelectronic health record system
  • Completes patient registration paperwork for health and financialpurposes, as needed
  • Notifies other staff and providers of patient arrivals
  • Aids with preparation of claims for insurance payers
  • Practices safety, environmental and/or infection controlmethods
  • Scans medical records or makes copies of records as needed
  • Aids in data collection for grant reporting as needed
  • Provides excellent customer services
  • Other duties as assigned

 Salary and Benefits:The hiringsalary for this position has been established at $34,752 and iscommensurate with skills and experience.

 This position is eligible for overtimecompensation.

QualificationsMinimumQualifications:

  • Two years of general clerical experience
  • Experience using anelectronic records management system, such as an electronic health record orsimilar system.
    Substitution: College or university course work, appropriate to the work assignment, may substitute on a year for year basis for the experience
    Conditionsof Employment:
  • Must be willing and able to work in normal patient care environment with some exposure to biological hazards and infectious diseases.
  • PreferredQualifications:
    • Experience utilizing bilingual skills (Spanish/English) at a conversation level in a customer service setting 
    • Experience working in a community health setting with adiverse population
    • Experience with public and private health insurance plans
