Requirements
GEORGETOWN UNIVERSITY LAW CENTER is seeking applicants for a full-time faculty position teaching Legal Practice: Writing and Analysis, beginning in the 2020-2021 academic year. The position leads to a seven-year, presumptively renewable contract, with an option to apply to convert to tenure track.
Legal Practice: Writing and Analysis is a graded, year-long course that emphasizes legal analysis, writing, and professional skills. Most Legal Practice professors teach two sections of approximately twenty-five to thirty first-year students, each of which meets twice a week. Legal Practice faculty also teach a weekly seminar with law fellows. Professors are responsible for designing course materials and supervising the law fellows (who serve as teaching assistants).
Candidates must have superior academic records and expertise in research and writing. Three years of professional experience beyond law school graduation and teaching experience is preferred. Applicants should include a letter of interest, a CV, a list of three references, a writing sample, and, for recent graduates, a law school transcript.
Materials should be submitted to Emily Smith, Office of the Dean, Georgetown University Law Center, at eny3@georgetown.edu by November 29, 2019. Applications will be reviewed upon receipt and early submission is strongly recommended. Questions about the position may be directed to Professor Mitt Regan, Chair of the Legal Research & Writing Committee, regan@georgetown.edu.
