- Processes large-scale biological data sets and backup data and results.
- Writes computer programs (e.g., with excellent programming skills in Perl, R, and other programming languages) to process large-scale biological data sets generated from high-throughput technologies.
- Performs data analysis as directed.
- Develops Bioinformatics tools as necessary.
- Performs parallel computing and other high-performance computing.
- Assists with scientific writing and submitting publishable manuscripts/presenting research results.
- Guides students and other lab members.
- Performs other laboratory management duties as assigned, maintain lab equipment, ordering, library literature searches.
- Administers computer systems: Responsible for maintenance and upgrade of lab computer hardware, install software, manage accounts and network security.
- Performs other duties as required.

Minimum Education and/or Work Experience

Master’s degree or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Genetics, Molecular Biology, Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Biostatistics, or related fields. A minimum of 3 years experience in biomedical research. Genomic data analysis expertise.

- In-depth knowledge of multiple areas and of the underlying principles and concepts.
- In-depth understanding of complex equipment or processes. Can resolve most problems without assistance or defines assistance required for resolution.
- Ability to develop innovative processes to achieve goals. Reviews work activities to determine where new information could improve processes or move projects forward.
- Ability to initiate and compose communications for various purposes in an appropriate style.
