DescriptionThe Department of Psychological Science atBoise State University (https://www.boisestate.edu/psychology/) invites interested applicants toapply for the position of Assistant Professor beginning in Fall 2020, with anarea of specialization in the biological bases of behavior, broadly defined(e.g., genetic contributions to behavior, neuroscience, psychoneuroendocrinology).

 We are seeking a dedicated teacher andresearcher to support our existing undergraduate curriculum.  The successful candidate will have theability to engage students in the classroom and through a program of research.  This is a nine-month tenure track position,with opportunities for salary enhancement through summer teaching and work onexternally-funded research projects.

 The Department of Psychological Science boastsa highly interdisciplinary faculty with a strong history of success inteaching, research, and service.  We haveactive relationships with multiple organizations in the community, includingstate agencies, schools, and a variety of non-profit organizations.  Boise State University offers richopportunities for interdisciplinary collaboration with other departments in theCollege of Arts and Sciences and throughout Boise State (e.g., Biology,Kinesiology, and Health Sciences). 

 Responsibilities
  • Candidates should have thepotential for excellence in teaching at the undergraduate level.  The standard teaching load is 2-3 courses persemester, with possible reductions for service activities or working onexternally-funded research projects.
  • The successful candidate will beexpected to teach courses related to biological bases of behavior,neuroscience, and/or physiological psychology.
  • Be willing to teach other courses(e.g., introductory psychology or learning) as departmental needs require.
  • Maintain an active program ofresearch that involves undergraduate students. Such research should be sufficient to produce, on average, at least onepeer-reviewed publication each year.
  • Engage in appropriate serviceactivities benefiting the Department, College of Arts and Sciences, andUniversity, as well as those benefiting the local community, state, region, anddiscipline.
At aminimum you should have:

  • An earned doctorate in Psychology,Neuroscience, or a closely related field by August 1, 2020.
Thepreferred candidate will have:

  • Demonstrated evidence or potentialfor excellence in teaching, research, and service.
  • A research focus on biopsychologyor neuroscience, with specific area of specialization open.
