Under direction, this position contributes to the creation and implementation of internal and external communication plans and content in support of UC San Diego Health including research out of the School of Medicine.
Responsible for communication needs for UC San Diego Health, including emergency preparedness and response, labor relations and other areas assigned. Heavy emphasis on external media relations for the health system, including developing and disseminating internal and external news and information based upon assigned beats, departments or schools. Examples of beats include emergency care, trauma care and surgery.
This is a writing-intensive position, but also involves visual, digital and electronic communications, such as video, social media and podcasting. Position requires carrying an after-hours pager on a rotating basis, including evenings and weekends, and other related functions and duties as needed.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
A Bachelor's Degree in business, healthcare administration or related area; and/or equivalent experience/training.
Minimum of three (3+) or more years of relevant experience - professional writing and communications experience.
Experience and proven success in all aspects of communications, including strategic planning for various media venues, technical aspects and requirements of various venues, and most appropriate and effective applications.
- Professional writing and communications experience in Healthcare, public information or journalism.
- Experience and proven success – particularly in writing, mass communications and working with multiple groups on multiple projects simultaneously.
- Must be able to work various hours and locations based on business needs.
