Assistant Vice President - Strategic Marketing & Communications

DescriptionJob Purpose: Responsible for the creation, implementation, and oversight of theInstitute's marketing and communications strategy and managing the Creative,Digital and Project Management teams to support the delivery of Brand, Contentand Creative Services to the Institute and partner with colleges and units todeliver Brand, Content and Creative Services that enhance the Institute'sreputation at the state, national and international levels. Collaborate withthe Senior Leadership of Institute communications, to oversee the team thatdelivers cohesive creative content and assets. Lead integrated marketing andcommunications initiatives in both traditional and digital communicationsplatforms on issues of strategic importance and track major trends in highereducation and their potential impact on the Institute. Responsible forresourcing projects with individual and/or teams, managing project goals andtimelines for delivery, and measuring success of deliverables, as well assetting employee and group goals, deciding on organizational structure to meetthe goals, assessing employee and group performance and providing feedback, andmaking pay recommendations.

 Major Responsibilities:
  • Plan and oversee execution of exceptionally creative Institute-level communications that elevate the Institute's reputation and advance its brand image.
  • Actively consult with the Institute's leadership, academic and administrative units to help them achieve marketing and communications goals in alignment with the Institute's brand image.
  • Work with the Vice President of Institute Communications, to implement comprehensive strategic communication plan, in support of the mission, vision and strategic direction of the Institute.
  • Collaborate with the Institute Communications leadership and staff to build, serve on, or lead specific integrated communications and project teams.
  • Basic Qualifications:
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Public Relations or Communications related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Work Experience: Ten years or more job related experience.

  • Skills: This job requires strong organizational and leadership skills, negotiation skills, people management skills, project management knowledge, attention to detail and excellent verbal and written communication skills. Project and personnel management skills, knowledge of office based computer applications, Creative Project Management Software and creating graphics are also required.
