Science experiments: Transformation of E. coli with DNA; Transfection of Trypanosoma brucei; Microscopy of trypanosomes; flow cytometry analysis of cell cycle; proteomic analysis of trypanosomes; purification of proteins; molecular pharmacology; test efficacy of drugs in mouse model of human African trypanosomiasis

Maintaining laboratory: Organize scheduled “wipe tests” for radioactivity use. As needed arrange upgrade of equipment for high throughput proliferation assays of trypanosomes.

A postdoctoral research associate position in protein kinase biology and drug discovery for Trypanosoma brucei.

Relevant/Preferred Education, Experience, Licensure, Certification in Position

Ph.D. or equivalent doctorate (e.g., D.V.M., Sc.D., M.D., PharmD), usually recently, in a field directly related to the appointee’s assigned responsibilities.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies

Molecular cloning, tissue culture, working with mice. Willingness to learn proteomic analysis.

Standing for long periods during experiments.
