The College of Arts and Sciences (A&S) at CU Boulder encourages applicants for an Undergraduate Student Recruitment Coordinator! The purpose of this position is to coordinate student recruitment initiatives and programs in A&S in order optimize admissions by attracting high-quality students.
This position will serve as a point of contact for prospective undergraduate students and their parents. Other activities include providing admissions related support and oversight of recruitment events. This position works closely with the Director of Recruitment to handle recruitment initiatives, support the A&S Welcome Center, manage the A&S Student Ambassador Program, and provide reporting to department chairs, program directors, and administration on admissions and enrollment goals. The position also develops and implements programming for recruitment, outreach regarding A&S initiatives and achievements, and the welcoming and persistence of students within A&S.Who We Are

What Your Key Responsibilities Will BeStudent Recruitment Coordination
  • Work closely with the College's Director of Recruitment to develop and implement targeted recruitment efforts by attending onsite, local, and national events for recruitment.
  • Staff and present at On-campus Admissions Events.
  • Respond to prospective student and parent inquiries and provide information regarding college opportunities and programs.
  • Develop visibility for A&S within the state through events or presentations at K-12 schools.
  • Create strategies and communication materials to foster positive branding for A&S.
  • Stay up-to-date on literature regarding recruitment trends and strategies with special emphasis on access and recruiting of first-generation students, traditionally underserved populations, and women students.
Campus-Wide Engagement
  • Engage with the Office of Admissions and other Colleges on the CU Boulder campus to determine and implement standard methodologies.
  • Represent A&S in a variety of recruiting events and settings by attending high school presentations, in and out-of-state college fairs, and on-campus visits and events.
  • Speak knowledgeably about the College and answers questions from students and parents.
Student Recruitment Programming
  • Work with the Director of Recruitment in leading and coordinating on-campus events for A&S recruitment and yield initiatives (e.g. Gender Parity Initiative, Medical Scholars Program).
  • Create programming to build relationships with Colorado high schools to cultivate student and staff knowledge of and interest in the academic programs in A&S.
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with appropriate counselor, administrative and teacher contacts at high schools in order to initiate the recruitment of prospective students.
Welcome Center/Student Ambassador Program and Other
  • Staff and create programming for the Welcome Center, a center dedicated to receiving and assisting prospective students and families.
  • Manage, hire, and train Student Ambassadors in support of on-campus visit programs and tours.
  • Supervise part-time student workers and Student Ambassadors as needed to support A&S recruitment activities and the Welcome Center.

  • A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university (must be conferred by December 2020) Note: An equivalent combination of education and experience may substitute for the required degree on a year-for-year basis.
  • At least one year of work experience in higher education in student recruitment, admissions, advising, or related field.
  • Must be able to travel seasonally during evening or weekends.
What You Will Need
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to multi-task projects.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently, as well as on a team.
  • Willingness to learn and interest working with student recruitment.
What We Would Like You To Have
  • Two years of professional-level experience related to the work assignment.
  • Experience establishing and maintaining effective relationships with varied constituencies.
  • Experience planning and executing events for small and large numbers of participants.
  • Knowledge and experience recruiting diverse students to a university.
  • Experience developing innovative programs to broaden access to college for students historically underrepresented in higher education.
  • Experience developing relationships with a wide range of high schools — especially those serving low-income youth.
  • Familiarity with CU Boulder A&S academic program offerings.
  • Sensitivity to, and appreciation of, cultural, political and geographical differences.
  • Proficiency in Spanish.
