Provides leadership & direction to areas of labor relations and employee relations. Provides strategic consultation, leadership and counsel to University officials on the administration of non-faculty public employment, public policy & collective bargaining issues, and workforce compliance. Oversees coordination of employee relations and labor relations. Directs timely investigation & processing of human resources related allegations, complaints, disputes, charges &/or lawsuits.Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in public administration, human resources, industrial relations or related degree, Master’s Degree or JD PreferredA minimum of ten (10) years of progressive management experience in labor/employee relations, HR Compliance. Public sector strongly preferred.Must have ability to resolve highly complex labor/employee relations and compliance issues Must have skill in conducting investigatory interviews.National certification PHR/SPHR, SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP preferred.
Communication and other skills:
Must be able to write complex reports, position papers and communicate in a concise manner.Must be able to communicate abstract and complex legal concepts into everyday language.Must have skill in negotiation and ability to resolve employee or labor representative employment disputes.Working Conditions:
Work in a professional office environment with possible high stress levels. May interact with irate, angry or emotionally charged individuals who see violence or intimidation as a legitimate means of conflict resolution.
