Faculty InitiativesGeneral Description / Primary Purpose

The Assistant Director of Donor Engagement and Stewardship serves as the main contact and expert regarding all centrally managed foundation scholarships. They ensure the University of North Florida maximizes private support by awarding all available scholarships, meets criteria guidelines set forth in the gift agreement and adheres to compliance metrics. Working closely with the director, fellow team members, and University of North Florida staff, this position builds relationships with donors and scholars to keep open communication about student progress and success. They work closely with various department and units to advise and train staff regarding the comprehensive scholarship database system which will provide campus-wide consistency in scholarship awarding as well as allow for accurate compliance evaluation and donor reporting.

Essential Duties

Job Function

-Work closely with Financial Aid to identify, select and award all centrally housed Foundation Scholarships.
-Work with Foundation Accounting to track fund balances yearly in each Foundation Scholarship Program and ensure verification of all Foundation scholarship criteria.
-Ensure all Foundation Scholarships are awarded and finalized on a timely basis.
-Serve as the database guru for the scholarship management database system, AcademicWorks.
-Provide regular trainings to colleges/units and assist with improvements to the database system.
-Directly communicate with donors on all aspects of their scholarship and scholars.
-Provide stewardship reports to donors including student profiles of their new scholarship recipients, student academic progress, student graduation plans & endowment spending allocation.
-Approve or deny all study abroad/research requests for centrally awarded Foundation scholarship students and work with Financial Aid and Undergraduate Academic Enhancement to ensure a smooth process for all Foundation scholarship students who are planning to use the study abroad/research component.
-Create, maintain and update financial models for centrally awarded Foundation scholarships.
-Assist with Donor Engagement & Stewardship events as assigned including but not limited to scholarship lunches/dinners, Celebrate UNF, Foundation Board meetings and engagement opportunities.
-Generate new ideas, plan, set goals/objectives, implement and follow-through on goals.
-Position requires occasional evening and weekend work as well as local travel as needed. They are also responsible for transportation to on and off campus locations to attend meetings, consultations and related job activities. Driving or other forms of transportation is an essential function of the job.
-This position must be filled by an individual who is detail oriented, organized, and possesses excellent written and oral communication skills. They must be able to work effectively both independently and together with a team.
-Must have strong technology skills and be proficient in Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel as well as have the ability to learn other specialized software packages.
-The Director of Donor Engagement & Stewardship delegates important communications, fund management and stewardship responsibilities to this person.
-Must be able to improve processes on a regular basis with the ability to analyze and organize various tasks and information. Also must have the ability to think strategically about donor engagement and stewardship.
-Preferred candidate has experience using AcademicWorks Scholarship Award management software.

A Master’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university in a directly related area of specialization and two years of experience directly related to the job functions; or a Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university in a directly related area of specialization and four years of experience directly related to the job functions.
