The University of Cincinnati is currently accepting applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Health Promotion and Education. This position will begin August, 2020. Position responsibilities include: (a) maintaining an active research agenda including publications, presentations, supervising student research, grant writing, and pursuit of external funding; (b) teaching undergraduate and graduate courses (on campus and online); (c) assisting with program-related activities; and (d) engaging in university, professional, and community service. Successful candidates will have a broad understanding of social and behavioral health methodologies and expertise in research addressing social determinants of health issues.


    The University of Cincinnati (www.uc.edu), a comprehensive university classified with very high research activity, is part of the Ohio state university system with approximately 46,000 students in attendance (over 11,000 graduate students). Located within the College of Education, Criminal Justice, and Human Services, the School of Human Services includes programs in Health Promotion and Education, School Psychology, Counseling, Substance Abuse Counseling, and Sport Administration. The School has several cross-disciplinary collaborations across programs and colleges. The Health Promotion and Education Program has 11 full-time faculty members, a thriving student body, and offers BS, MS, and PhD degrees in Health Education and an MPH concentration in Health Promotion and Education.

    Cincinnati is a thriving metropolis of over 2 million people, located on the Ohio River at the juncture of Ohio, Kentucky, and Indiana. As one of the largest metropolitan areas in Ohio, Cincinnati offers a wide variety of cultural, recreational and social opportunities including ballet, symphony, professional theater, museums, festivals, professional sports, an outstanding zoo and aquarium, and excellent public parks and natural resources.

    Minimum Qualifications

    • Earned Doctorate (or projected completion by August 15, 2020) in Health Education or a related field (e.g., Public Health, Health Promotion, Health Behavior).
    • Clear and active research agenda, including publications, presentations, and research experience consistent with a potential for external funding.
    • The ability to teach at the undergraduate and graduate levels (both online and on campus).
    • The ability to advise and mentor graduate students. Candidates who are eligible to obtain professional credentials such as CHES or CPH preferred.
