The assistant director, corporate and foundation relations position provides administrative and professional support to the executive director of corporate relations, the senior director of operations, and the Rice Business Partners board of directors, its committees, and its programming at the Jones School.

The duties of this position include meeting and event logistics and producing monthly corporate reporting. The assistant director, corporate and foundation relations also provides key support within the corporate relations team, managing a small portfolio of corporate and foundation prospects, as well as serving as a liaison with inter-departmental offices at Rice University and the Office of Development and Alumni Relations and MBA student clubs. S/he maintains calendars, schedules meetings, creates itineraries, and prepares routine correspondence. Additionally, s/he researches corporate and foundation prospects, prepares corporate briefings and proposals, solicits prospects in his/her portfolio, and manages corporate-related events.

Experience Preferred

- Five years demonstrated experience in project management, membership management, and calendar management
- Customer relations/services experience
- Donor and volunteer management experience
- Working in a university setting
- Event management
- Related professional writing experience

- Familiarity with fundraising in a higher education environment is desirable
- Attention to detail and ability to quickly understand and remember details about alumni/donors and projects to which they are assigned

Internal / External Contacts

Internal Contacts: The incumbent has ongoing contact with all division staff as well as some contact with faculty and staff school-wide. S/he is responsible for responding to inquiries from various departments at the school as well as all departments within Resource Development.

External Contacts: The incumbent has frequent contact with volunteers, Rice Business Partners Board, and others who serve on committees for the school, as well as corporate and foundation prospects.
