Cisco College is accepting applications for the Director of Nursing and Health Sciences. . The position is based at the Abilene Educational Center of Cisco College in Abilene, Texas and will oversee the Vocational Nursing Program, Allied Health Science Programs, and the Associate Degree Nursing Program. Cisco College offers high-quality, affordable academic transfer and career training education to almost 4,000 students per semester across two campuses in Cisco and Abilene, Texas. The position requires a Master’s Degree in Nursing, current nursing license to practice as a registered nurse in the State of Texas, a minimum of three years teaching experience in a professional nursing education program, demonstrated knowledge, skills and abilities in administration within a professional nursing education program.

CISCO COLLEGE offers a generous benefit package, including comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance. Job Summary

The Director of Nursing and Health Sciences is responsible for the continued development, implementation, promotion and daily operation of the Health Science Programs for Cisco College.

The Director of Nursing and Health Sciences is expected to accomplish assigned duties in an efficient, effective and competent manner, and strive for improvement and excellence in all work performed. Additionally, this individual must demonstrate a commitment to the comprehensive role of the community college as described in the Cisco College mission statement. The director must cooperate and work harmoniously with college personnel and the public, and must follow all Cisco College policies, rules and regulations as they relate to this position.

Primary Duties

  1. Responsible for designing, planning, sequencing and evaluating the programs
  2. Accountable for comprehensive program/curriculum review processes
  3. Responsible for gathering data and proposing program review and improvement
  1. Responsible for coordinating, and collaborating in the use of educational facilities and clinical resources within the nursing programs
  1. Works with other departments within the college to develop courses and resources specific to and appropriate for nursing program students
  1. Responsible for assisting in collaboration/coordination with Health Care Providers/employers and clinical sites
  1. Responsible for keeping the Chief Academic Officer apprised of status and events related to the nursing programs. Meets regularly with the Chief Academic Officer to review health programs and associated activity.
  1. Coordinates planning and implementation of faculty in-service and continuing education for nursing faculty.
  1. Works effectively with Advisory Boards. Responsible for being responsive to regulatory agencies
  1. Responsible for providing all necessary documentation to the State Board of Nursing & other agencies. Responsible for ensuring nursing program compliance with all state and federal regulations
  1. Accountable for program academic assessment processes Accountable for program accreditation. Coordinates Academic Advising for students in nursing and those on the pre-nursing track.
  1. Participates in the hiring of teaching staff as needed and approved and in negotiating with preceptors
  1. Conducts performance evaluations and develops plans for nursing faculty & Health Science
  1. Keeps nursing faculty informed of all college affairs. Meets regularly with faculty to review programs and establish priorities.
  1. Develops and keeps current the class schedule for courses and ensures compliance with the faculty load policy for both full-time and adjunct instructors.
  1. Submits pertinent information to the appropriate offices by the designated deadlines.

 

 

  1. Oversees budget development and spending for Health Science Programs. Manages Perkins purchases.
  1. Ensures implementation of administrative decisions and directives. Maintains confidentiality on appropriate matters. Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

  1. Current license or privilege to practice as a registered nurse in the state of Texas
  2. Master’s degree in nursing
  3. 3 years of teaching experience in a professional nursing education program
  1. Demonstrated knowledge, skills and abilities in administration within a professional nursing education program
