PRIMARY PURPOSE: To provide instruction in all levels of Business courses as a member of an instructional team of full-time, adjunct, and part-time instructors. Part-time instructors direct student-learning discussion, evaluate student performance in the classroom, and prepare course materials.

•This is a part-time (< .50 FTE) non-benefited position, hired on a term-by-term basis. Hours of work may include evening or weekend teaching assignments.
•Part-Time Faculty compensation begins at Step 1 / $595 per load unit (LU). Load Unit is equivalent to class credit; and shall include both teaching and other assignments.
•Part-Time Faculty positions are not represented by the Faculty Forum Collective Bargaining Agreement.
•Initial assignment will be at the Bend Campus. May include travel throughout the College district.
•Official transcripts are required upon hire. Applicants anticipating Degree completion must supply a letter from his/her university stating the degree title and that the degree will be granted by that date.
•Upon hire, must pass criminal background check and/or driving history; only information relevant to the position will be considered.

Essential Functions:

1.Provide instruction in Business. This includes lecturing and guiding in classroom activities, providing individual conference time to guide and evaluate student progress. Teaching assignments may include courses taught during the day and/or evening and classes taught on or off campus in Bend, Redmond, Prineville and/or Madras.

1.Provide one hour of office time per week to guide and evaluate student progress. All instructors are expected to be available to their students outside of class when students are scheduled on campus.
2.Work collaboratively with other Business instructors to foster excellence in teaching. This includes working successfully with colleagues in the department to develop and modify curricula, integrate new instructional methods into courses, and work to assure programmatic curricular coherence.

3.Act as a resources person for students.

4.Perform other essential duties and tasks specific to each location, as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Individuals must possess the following knowledge, skills, and abilities or be able to explain and demonstrate that the individual can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of skills and abilities. The individual is expected to follow College work rules and policies.

1.Thorough knowledge in the field of business.
2.Knowledge of teaching and instruction of various audiences and group dynamics.
3.Familiarity with and ability to operate or oversee the operation of audio-visual equipment, including overhead projectors, film, sound systems, video, television, interactive video, and audio equipment which may include operating computer-controlled mixed-media presentations.
4.Ability to operate or oversee the operation of computers and written materials.
5.Ability to orally communicate effectively in writing, using the English language, with or without the use of an interpreter.
6.Ability to communicate effectively in writing, using the English language, with or without the use of auxiliary aids or services.
7.Ability to teach at various hours and locations, which may include evenings and weekends.
8.Willingness and ability to travel and teach in Bend, Madras, Prineville and Redmond.
9.Ability to competently advise and/or serve students from a variety of backgrounds, respecting cultural and socio-economic differences.

Physical Demands and Other Ergonomic Requirements:

Work is performed in classroom and office environments with the ability to sit or stand at workstation for extended periods. The employee is regularly required to use computers, white boards, projectors, and other basic office equipment. The employee is regularly required to sit, use hands and fingers, handle or feel objects, tools or controls, reach with hands and arms and requires near visual acuity to write, read written materials and computer screens, and sufficient hearing and speech ability for ordinary conversations. Computer screen is used frequently. Occasional lifting up to 25 lbs. Travel throughout the College district as needed. A flexible work schedule, including evenings and weekends, may be necessary due to the nature of the position responsibilities. All individuals are required to be able to perform the essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.

Minimum Qualifications:

Required:
1.Masters of Business Administration and/or Masters of Science in Business related fields.
2.Have at least five (5) years of business experience. Teaching or entrepreneur/business work world experience.
3. Willingness and ability to travel to teach at any college location in Central Oregon

•College level teaching experience.

Organization

Central Oregon Community College, the oldest two-year college in Oregon, provides comprehensive college services to the residents of its 10,000-square-mile district.

COCC offers two-year associate degrees, transfer/lower division programs, career and technical education degrees and certificates, developmental courses, continuing education and community learning classes, industry-specific training programs, and business management assistance.

The College's main campus is located on the western edge of Bend, a city known for its natural beauty and its proximity to diverse recreational opportunities. The location affords spectacular views of the mountains from nearly every point on the 201-acre campus. The Redmond Campus, located 20 miles north on 25 acres near the Redmond Municipal Airport, offers all of the courses necessary to earn an associate degree. In addition, it is the home of the Manufacturing and Applied Technology Center.

Thanks to a successful 2009 bond measure, COCC has constructed campus facilities in Madras and Prineville, opening the two campuses in 2011. In Bend, new health careers and science centers opened in 2012 as well as a technology center in Redmond.

A branch of Oregon State University is located on the Bend campus. OSU-Cascades offers upper division and graduate programs on the COCC campus.
