Position Title:  Affiliate Faculty of Writing

Summary: A full-time (9-month), non-tenure track position to teach 12 to 15 credit hours of first-year writing beginning August 6, 2020. No scholarship expectations or service obligations.

Required Qualifications and Education:

An M.A., M.S. or M.F.A. in English, Rhetoric/Composition, or Writing is required by time of employment. Candidates need to have expertise and experience in teaching college composition. Candidates must also have experience teaching writing in a computer lab.

Preferred Qualifications and Education:

Graduate coursework in rhetoric and composition, or its professional equivalent.

Responsibilities – Essential Functions:

The typical full-time (9-month) teaching load is 12-credit hours per semester, drawn from GVSU's general education composition courses. The position is not tenure track. Individuals will be appointed for one academic year on a full-time basis. This may be renewed once for an additional academic year. Thereafter, such individuals may be appointed for three (3) consecutive academic years. The ideal candidates will focus their careers on teaching general education writing courses and on continuously developing their professional expertise as writing teachers.
