TheDepartment of Pediatrics has anopening for a full-time, University Staff (unclassified) HR Business PartnerManager (HR Manager) position.

Managersare responsible for the day-to-day operation of functional work units,including the development and implementation of processes consistent withcollege, school or departmental strategies and processes and the supervision ofprofessional and support staff.

 Position Emphasis:

The HR BusinessPartner Manager, under the direction of the HR Program Director, provides day-to-daymanagement of the HR Business Partner Team including leadership, guidance anddevelopment of the team members and collaborates to achieve, develop and expandon the objectives of the team and its programming. The HRBP Manager providesand tailors training for new team members to help them successfully learn theirduties and responsibilities; identifies areas for improvement and professionaldevelopment opportunities for existing staff; and identifies and implementsprocess improvement initiatives. In addition, the HRBP Manager performs all ofthe functions performed by HRBP Team Members at an advanced or Subject MatterExpert (SME) level. The Manager also serves as a resource to Sections withinthe Department of Pediatrics by providing support, guidance and interpretationof Federal, State, University and School of Medicine laws, rules, regulations,policies and procedures assuring compliance in a variety of human resourcesareas which includes recruitment, selection and faculty affairs processes.

 Supervision Received:

Supervision will beby the HR Program Director.

 Supervision Exercised:

The HR BusinessPartner Manager provides management and supervision to the HR Business PartnerTeam.

 Examples of Work Performed:
  • Overseeand provide leadership to the HRBP team, including managing day-to-daypriorities, evaluating and redistributing workloads on a temporary basis, andmentoring staff.
  • Provideinput and feedback to HR Program Director on team members’ overallperformance.  Conduct individual performanceevaluations for team members and identify opportunities for professionaldevelopment and process improvement initiatives.
  • Partnerwith HR Program Director to determine hiring needs, address morale issues andset program objectives.
  • Maintainknowledge of relevant policies, procedures, laws and regulations and provideupdates and training to the HRBP team as needed.
  • Identifytraining and development opportunities for new and existing team members.
  • Providecoaching and mentorship to team members and provide assistance with managingand prioritizing daily tasks.
  • Collaboratewith HR Program Director to establish and implement DOP HR strategies,initiatives and objectives.
  • Manageall HR functions for faculty and staff within a portfolio of sectionsdesignated by the HR Program Manager.
  • Actas a SME on all functions completed by the HRBP Team, including but not limitedto recruitment, onboarding, data entry, International Employees, FML,performance management, funding allocations, PETs, payroll, additional pay, ITaccess/accounts, student and temp hires, salary spreadsheets, and thesemi-annual Table 1 salary setting process.
  • Perform other duties, tasks, and projects as assigned.

 Salary and Benefits:

The salary range forthis position startsat $63,939 and is commensurate with skills and experience. This position is noteligible for overtime compensation.

QualificationsMinimum Qualifications: 
  • Abachelor’s degree in human resource management, public administration, businessadministration, higher education administration, health care administration ora directly related field from an accredited institution.
  • Aminimum of four years of professional level and progressively increasing humanresource experience including a broad range of different HR activities.
  • Atleast two years of experience with financial transactions (e.g., journalentries, payroll, account reconciliation, etc.).
  • TeamLead or supervision experience.
  • Substitution: A combination of education andrelated technical/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for thebachelor’s degree on a year for year basis, but not for the specific experience.

     Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master’s Degree in Human Resources or directly-related field.
  • Experience working in an academic medical center.
  • Experience working with PeopleSoft Human Capital Management and CU Careers.
  • Experience working with international scholars.
  • Experience with training staff, conducting performance evaluations and coaching sessions.
  • Competencies/Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Ability to analyze, interpret, and evaluate a broad range of laws, rules, and regulations in order to exercise good judgment in applying them to human resource challenges.
  • Knowledge of the professional standards, concepts, and practices of recruitment and selection, employee relations, or organizational development and human resource policy.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both in writing andorally, with various constituencies, generate trust and credibility at alllevels of the organization and work effectively in a complex environment.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective workingrelationships with employees at all levels throughout the institution.
  • Demonstrated commitment and leadership ability to advancediversity and inclusion.
  • Thorough knowledge of current management and leadershipmethods and best practices.
  • Outstanding customer service skills.
  • Ability to independently establish work priorities, followthrough, and meet established deadlines.
  • Abilityto actively listen and share relevant information, anticipate problems, andestablish and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Advancedskills in MS Office including Outlook, Word and Excel.
