Human Resources Generalist
The Human Resource Generalist will serve as the lead person in all hiring activities related to Administration, Staff, Faculty, Coaches and Adjuncts. This position provides excellent customer service to prospective employees and anyone in or in contact with the Jackson College community. The HR Generalist requires a strong team-approach to daily activities, ability to juggle and prioritize projects and the ability to adapt to the constant development of new approaches.
Confers with hiring managers to identify personnel needs, job specifications, job duties, qualifications, and skills. Determines qualifying questions for job postings to screen for qualified applicants who meet position's minimum requirements.
Department expert on NEOGOV. Lead for updates and maintenance on the system.
Develops, coordinates, and prepares job postings in NEOGOV. Develops recruitment strategies to attract applicants to fill specific job openings. Writes and places job advertising in various media including the internet. Manage position advertising budget.
Refers candidates to hiring committees via the NEOGOV system. Complete the hiring process in NEOGOV through the step of referring the new hire to the On-Board module for the next step.
Coordinate hiring process with hiring managers, including coordination of search committees, schedule interviews, reference and background checks.
Assemble and maintain material for each position, when filled, to be archived for possible FOIA needs.
Coordinate all adjuncts, JC and EDUStaff, employment files. Process all adjunct absence reports, stipends, additional hours and non-classroom terms of assignment.
Maintain the system utilized to assure compliance with the Higher Learning Commission faculty qualification guidelines. Update Instructor Qualification forms as needed (new and deleted courses, qualification modifications, etc.). Coordinate with Deans, Department Chairs, Lead Faculty and Scheduling Department personnel to assure qualification information is utilized appropriately when teaching assignments are made. Maintain faculty qualification information in the Colleague system including updating of licensing and credential expiration dates.
JC liaison with EDUStaff, third party payroll partner working with adjuncts and coaches. Attend each adjunct orientation with EDUStaff to process, provide for and answer questions for adjuncts.
Coordinate coaching positions, employment files, issue annual pay schedules for payroll for each coach, set up payment plan and track coaches and their sport's seasons.
Input data for new and existing adjunct employees into administrative computing system.
Input and maintains data in the College's administrative computing system and databases programs related to human resources.
Queries data and prepares reports as requested/needed
Primary tracking and response for unemployment claims received.
Handle all subpoenas regarding students and employees; notify departments, send requests, and provide results.
Maintain files and spreadsheets for temporary theatre workers. Make sure I-9 forms and background checks are on file for these on-call employees. Monitor for those who are no longer working for the theatre.
Maintain updated tracking of open positions on status sheet for HR.
Responsible for understanding, supporting and actively demonstrating the College's beliefs, values, mission and vision and being in agreement to be evaluated by same.
Assists with New Employee Orientation week on a monthly basis, including driving, providing presentations, back-up during absences and tours.
Education and/or Experience
Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; or two to four years personnel related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Expert knowledge of personal computers and related software (MS Word, Outlook, Excel, Access). Knowledge of database design and query.

A copy of Jackson College's Annual Security Report and Annual Fire Safety Report is available on the JC Campus Safety & Security website.
