The Accounting Specialist-Billing is responsible for the accounting operations of the Contract & Grant and Non-Student billing of the university while maintaining the accuracy and integrity of Banner Finance general ledger, Banner billing modules for Contract & Grant and Non-Student, and web based systems and interfaces; cash management; billing; collections and receivable activities; Accounts Receivable refunds; specialized campus training; and a high level of customer service.

N.C. Minimum Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

High school diploma or equivalency and one year of experience in accounting work; or equivalent combination of training and experience.

Additional knowledge, skills, and abilities required to perform the essential functions of the position

Four year degree in accounting or business with an emphasis in accounting course work and three years professional accounting experience or the equivalent combination of training and experience.

Preferred education, professional skills and experience

Preferred experience: experience in accounting; experience in a university environment; experience in governmental fund accounting; experience with Banner Systems.

Preferred skills: excellent written and verbal communication skills; acute attention to detail; possess strong organizational skills; ability to prioritize work; proficient skill with Microsoft Office Suite; ability to perform analyses of financial data and processes; ability to reconcile and resolve problems; demonstrate thorough knowledge and application of accounting theories and principles.
