Description:

Reporting to the Executive Director of Alumni Relations, the Engagement Officer position is a vital position that interacts with 50,000 Islander Alumni and works alongside with the National Islander Alumni Association. In addition, this position is also responsible for arranging, preparing and executing a multitude of events through coordinated timelines and logistics, writing content and serving as the online presence of the Alumni Relations Office thru social media and website, working with volunteers, leading student engagement initiatives, and provide a wide variety of administrative and staff support services to the University and the Division of Institutional Advancement.

Responsibilities:
  • Arrange and prepare event timelines and logistics, budgets, scripts, schedules, and printed materials in consultation with the Executive Director of Alumni Relations and the National Alumni Association. Coordinate events with vendors, facilities personnel (both University and external), and others.
  • Responsible for the online presence of the Alumni Relations office and its various entities including social media and website updates.
  • Organize and execute all student-driven events through the Alumni Association. Handle all planning and organizing of events within established guidelines.
  • Oversee design and content of the Alumni Electronic Newsletter.
  • Recruit and manage event staff and volunteers.
  • Purchase recognition awards and promotional merchandise.
  • Assist with preparing monthly and yearly financial statements and transaction reports for the National Alumni Association.
  • Provide a wide variety of administrative and staff support services.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Two (2) years of related field.
  • Additional relevant education may be used to substitute for experience requirement:
    • Masters degree.
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Skills in prioritizing multiple tasks and successfully completing work within given deadlines and timelines.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to perform well under high pressure situations and deadlines, excellent judgment and reasoning skills, and has outstanding organizational skills.
  • Good organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team to meet expected deadlines and schedules.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Three to five (3-5) years' experience in marketing, communication, event management, or alumni relations.
  • Additional skills with Wordpress, HTML clode, and Adobe Suite.
  • Experience with implementing event programming and engagement.
  • Hands-on experience with building and coordinating both short and long-term marketing campaigns, including online tactics (including website and various social media channels).
