20-Oct-2019 Close All Job SummaryThe Cooperative Institute for Research in Environmental Sciences (CIRES) at the University of Colorado, Boulder, has an immediate opening for a Web/Application Developer with experience in Drupal and web software development environments. This university staff position will work within the CIRES IT team and associated stakeholders to develop and maintain internal business applications, and to develop and maintain Drupal sites. These web applications profile cutting-edge research undertaken by CIRES scientists and include sites such as https://cires.colorado.edu/.
CIRES seeks candidates who can manage, develop and design websites and applications utilizing current Drupal CMS standards. In addition, candidates must have experience developing with PHP or like development environment. Candidates should be able to work within a team environment, and obtain application or web requirements from multiple user groups. The incumbent will work under the direction of the CIRES Director of IT. The successful candidate will be familiar with Drupal development and will have written web applications utilizing PHP and/or Javascript.Who We AreAt CIRES, the Cooperative Institute for Research in Environmental Sciences, more than 800 environmental scientists work to understand the dynamic Earth system, including the relationship between people and their environment. CIRES is a partnership of NOAA and the University of Colorado Boulder, and our areas of expertise include weather and climate, changes at Earth’s poles, air quality and atmospheric chemistry, water resources, solid Earth sciences, and more. For more details, please visit our web site: CIRES.What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be
  • Develop and maintain Drupal websites.
  • Create and extend custom Drupal modules and theme templates.
  • Work with users to reduce complex information and ideas into dynamic Drupal content types.
  • Prepare, manage and deploy custom software created in-house using Drupal and LAMP Stack.
  • Assist in reviewing database schemas including new tables and modification of current tables.
  • Provide application support to all CIRES members via multiple communication paths.
  • Help Desk, Email, Phone, In-person.

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science (or Information Technology) or equivalent work experience.
What You Will Need
  • Ability to work well in teams and with end-users.
  • Written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
What We Would Like You To Have
  • Drupal 7.x and Drupal 8.x custom module development.
  • Web Development in a LAMP stack.
  • Experience with current JavaScript Frameworks such as AngularJS.
  • Experience with programming/scripting languages such as Perl, Python, Java, Ruby, C.
  • Experience in working with users to meet UI/UX goals.
  • Experience with CSS/SCSS.
  • Experience with managing and developing Drupal websites.
  • Experience in developing code that meets current security standards.
  • Experience in implementing software to accommodate business needs.
  • Experience in PHP or like development environment.
  • Experience with Git version control.
