Independently manages different phases of complex clinical trials and mentors Coordinators and Research Assistants. Works with partnering institutions and creates multi-center budgets and manages expenses. Participates in study team meetings, disease site group meetings, and ongoing protocol training/compliance meetings. Supports in the monitoring of external sites and assists in the management of multisite trials. Adheres to all University and other regulatory guidelines.Job Description
The Clinical Research Coordinator A primary role will be to recruit patients for a multi-site, 5-year, prospective, longitudinal study funded by the Patient Center Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI). The goal of the study is to compare usual palliative care services to palliative care delivered by Hepatology specialists among patients with cirrhosis. The study recruitment will take place at the Philadelphia VA Medical Center. The coordinator’s responsibilities will include maintaining and updating IRB protocols, patient identification through an electronic health record, conducting in-person and telephone surveys and interviews, working with the study sponsors and coordinating site, and maintaining a recruitment log and regulatory binder of study documents. In addition to these duties the Clinical Research Coordinator B will be expected to manage multi-site studies and create complex multi-site budgets. The CRC-B will also be expected to work independently and possibly manage staff members.
The position will additionally include assistance with the PI’s other clinical research projects, which include studies in physical activity and functional status, medication adherence, cognition, and psychosocial predictors of liver transplant outcomes. Involvement in these projects may include IRB protocol maintenance, patient recruitment and communication, drafting of abstracts and/or manuscripts, chart reviews, and assisting the PI in project design and implementation. Adheres to all University and other regulatory guidelines.
This position is contingent on funding.
Qualifications
CRC-A Bachelor's Degree with 1-3 years of related experience in research and clinical study methodologies or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
CRC-B Bachelor's Degree with 2-4 years of related experience in research and clinical study methodologies or equivalent combination of education and experience is required
