Reporting to the Director of Special Events, this position will be responsible for securing venues and suppliers in international locations, negotiating contracts, enforcing deadlines and overseeing event design and production for the Forum. The senior associate director will manage event management companies and event venues to ensure all logistical needs for the forum are met and will perform site inspections at least once for each destination. This position will work in collaboration with the special events team in the planning and execution of these events and will partner closely with the Lifelong Learning team in Alumni Relations on the program.Job Description
This position will also plan, organize and manage high visibility events around the world that support the fundraising and engagement goals of the External Affairs office at the Wharton School. This position will work closely with alumni relations staff, development staff, high-level alumni and senior school leadership through the planning stages of all events. The Senior Associate Director is responsible for problem solving and implementing solutions during all planning and execution stages. Additionally, this position will support other External Affairs events as needed including reunions and board meetings.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree with 7-10 years of meeting planning experience required, with a preference for experience in conference and/or international planning, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Excellent writing, communication and interpersonal skills required. Must be highly organized and self-initiating while working as a member of a team within a goal oriented environment. The ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines is essential. Frequent evening and weekend work required. Frequent international travel and some domestic travel is required. Must have a valid driver’s license and passport. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
