Description:

Children's Hospital of Philadelphia and the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania seek candidates for an Assistant Professor position in the non-tenure academic clinician track. Applicants must have an M.D or M.D./Ph.D. degree. Candidates with an M.D. or M.D./PhD should have primary board certification in Pathology (AP, CP or both AP and CP).

Teaching responsibilities may include working closely with department leadership at HUP and CHOP to develop pathology informatics education and fellowship opportunities for trainees.

Clinical responsibilities may include:

1. Fulfilling the role of Medical director of Pathology Informatics at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania
2. Serving as a consultant to the medical staff and health system leadership in the domain of Pathology Informatics
3. Providing medical leadership for our LIS team by working closely with our Health System IT team
4. Partnering with various health system and research constituents, including our Institute for Biomedical Informatics, to advance patient care and discovery efforts by leveraging available data and technology assets.
5. Representing Lab/Pathology in driving maximum value from Penn Medicine’s electronic health record, PennChart.
6. Developing computational pathology as a clinical service
7. Working with PACS team to integrate and grow our digital imaging program.

The successful candidate will have at least 3 years of experience in the general field of medical informatics and one or more of its subspecialties. Demonstrated training or experience in Medical Informatics is required.
