Please Note: A criminal background check will be conducted on candidate finalist prior to the offer of employment. Part-time appointment to teach at the Federal Correctional Complex-Beaumont and in Stiles and Gist State prisons as needed. The successful applicant must be capable of meeting and maintaing clearance requirements of the FCC-Beaumont and Texas Department of Criminal Justice.

Job Summary:

Reports to the Director of Correctional Education. The primary duties of this position are classroom teaching to students incarcerated at the correctional facilities.
•Conduct classes in accordance with established syllabi and lesson plans.
•Prepare, administer and grade assignments, quizzes, and tests.
•Provide objective and subjective feedback regarding student performance.
•Maintain records of student attendance, grades, and/or homework assignments.
•Advise students regarding academic matters to improve successful course completion.
•Conduct assigned courses that results in a high level of student satisfaction and course completion.
•Communicate pro-actively with Prison and Correctional Education staff regarding inmate/student issues.
•Ensure prison and college regulations and policies are known and followed.
•Maintain a healthy, secure, and safe classroom environment.
•Participate in scheduled faculty meetings and in-services as needed.
•Report Preparation.

Minimum Qualifications:

•Minimum of a Master’s Degree with 18 hours of coursework in subject area taught
•A current working knowledge of all theory and practical applications for courses being taught.
•Communicate effectively verbally, in writing, and through appropriate electronic media.
•Work successfully in a team environment.
•Additional specific requirements listed below where appropriate
•Must have prison security clearance for State and Federal prison systems.

Preferred Qualifications:

Must demonstrate sensitivity to the needs of students from diverse backgrounds. Ability to plan, schedule, and manage projects and assignments. Ability to establish effective working relationships with others. Must comply with established College rules and procedures.
