Administrative Associate, Internationalization & Global Engagement

Purpose of this Position:
Provide administrative support to the Offices of Internationalization and Global Engagement [IGE], Education Abroad and Domestic Programs [EADP], and International Student Affairs [ISA]. This position will ensure a smooth operational and detail-oriented approach to support Emerson College's strategy to increase awareness and support of internationalization initiatives.

Essential Functions of the Position:

Serve as the primary intake for all three offices
  • answer phones,
  • process purchase order requisitions,
  • make travel arrangements,
  • schedule appointments,
  • order supplies,
  • greet visitors to the office.

Assists with applicant processing for programs
  • maintain and update internal applicant databases, and waitlists,
  • organize and maintain program files,
  • generate student emails and correspondence.
  • process EADP program deposits, payments, and fees and maintain accurate payment records.

Additional Responsibilities:
Assist with planning of International Education Week, including planning for Annual Study Abroad Fair.
Work with colleagues in Los Angeles and in the Netherlands to keep them up to date with current student status and program information.
Become a Designated School Official (DSO) to assist ISA with processing immigration travel documents, SEVIS registration, and other related matters.


Required Knowledge, Skills, and Education (including hardware, software, and equipment)
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience
  • Excellent organizational, writing, and computer skills.*Good interpersonal skills and sensitivity to different cultures.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must hold US citizenship, or lawful US permanent residence (LPR).
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel.
  • Familiarity and facility with both MAC and PC computer platforms.
  • Ability to touch type.

Preferred/Desirable Knowledge, Skills, and Education (including hardware, software, and equipment)
  • Master's Degree
  • Basic knowledge of current F-1 immigration regulations.
  • Knowledge of SEVIS [Student and Exchange Visitor Information System].
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Powerpoint, Adobe Photoshop, InDesign and Acrobat, and Horizons by Symplicity Study Abroad Management system.


Grade of Position: A15N

Scheduled Weekly Hours: 36.25

Hiring Range: $27.11 - $28.44



This position will be exclusively represented by the Service Employees International Union (SEIU), Local 888 for purposes of wages, hours and other terms and conditions of employment.
