General Description / Primary Purpose

The doctoral program (Ed. D) at UNF is a member of the Carnegie Project on the Educational Doctorate (CPED). CPED and the UNF Ed.D. program are committed to preparing scholarly practitioners who can construct and apply knowledge to make a positive difference in the lives of individuals, families, organizations, and diverse communities. Moreover, the ideal candidate will be committed to investigating questions of equity, ethics, and social justice to bring about solutions to complex problems of practice.

The Department of Leadership, School Counseling, and Sport Management and the educational leadership programs within it are dedicated to the goal of building a culturally diverse and pluralistic faculty committed to teaching and working in a multicultural environment. Essential Duties

Job Function

Teach classes in Educational Leadership at the Masters and Doctoral Levels; serve on doctoral dissertation committees and supervise doctoral candidates; pursue an active agenda of scholarly publications and presentations; participate in department, college & university committees; provide service to the community and profession.

The successful candidate will be expected to continue a scholarly research agenda leading to peer reviewed publications, book submissions, and grant applications; participate in student advisement including serving and chairing doctoral committees; recruit highly qualified diverse students; engage in service activities and university governance in accordance with the mission and vision of the program, college and university; and cultivate relationships and partnerships with diverse local schools, districts, organizations and communities.

Required qualifications:
1. Earned doctorate in Educational Leadership or a closely related field to educational leadership;
2. Three (3) years professional experience as a principal/assistant principal, district administrator, assistant superintendent, and/or superintendent;
3. Established research agenda in K12 educational leadership as evidenced by peer reviewed publications, books, and funded grant applications;
4. Experience chairing and/or serving on dissertation committees;
5. Experience working in or scholarship about urban high needs schools and/or districts. This includes a research agenda focused on urban education; teaching experience in urban schools(s)/district(s); and/or administrative experience in urban school(s)/district(s);
6. Record of regional, state, and national service.

Departmental Requirements

Preferred qualifications:
1. Experience with designing and teaching courses in a blended or online format;
2. Experience supervising and mentoring educational leadership practicum students in the field;
3. Experience leading, teaching, mentoring, or otherwise supporting the development of people/students from diverse populations particularly people of color or from another underrepresented group;
4. Record of partnership development with K12 schools and districts.
