The department of Pathology is actively seeking a Laboratory Support Coordinator. The Laboratory Support Coordinator handles any administrative complex issues or questions for the department. Assists internal and external customers with ancillary/send out testing through the appropriate department. Provides information in response to any customer inquiries. Resolves any issues face-to-face, by telephone, email, fax or mail.

CORE JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Prepare Tumor Boards
  • Create and edit addenda to enter NGS “results” notification
  • Amendments to correct different types of errors and discrepancies
  • Type/enter results of stone/chemical analysis reports. On occasion, type reports that have been sent out for second opinion into the final or as addendum (i.e. renals, derms, Dr. Bejarano at Cleveland Clinic)
  • Enter gross only cases
  • Create quick texts in CoPath system
  • Grossing of consult cases, as needed
  • Liaison between Keystrokes and PA’s, residents on occasion for issues, more often for administrative functions such as submitting paperwork for new Keystrokes employees, submitting process/editing instructions, etc.
  • Document return of material that is sent out
  • Upload and document all send out reports to CoPath, UChart and Shard Drive (Add Second Opinion), monitor, retrieve and upload reports from some facilities
  • Request additional material as needed
  • Follow up with the facilities about a pending additional material request
  • Send emails to the doctors to inform them of the status of request for additional material
  • Place orders for additional material in CoPath (when received) and order the studies that the doctors need for additional material received in CoPath
  • Scan the information of the boxes that we send to Iron Mountain (manage Iron Mountain)
  • Request material from Iron Mountain, follow up on the boxes that are requested from storage and request to the file room to pull the cases, as well to follow up on the boxes that we must return to storage (Iron Mountain)
  • Other duties as assigned.

CORE QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School diploma or equivalent required
  • Minimum 1 year of relevant experience

  • Skill in completing assignments accurately and with attention to detail.
  • Ability to analyze, organize and prioritize work under pressure while meeting deadlines.
  • Ability to process and handle confidential information with discretion.
  • Ability to work evenings, nights, and weekends as necessary.

  • Ability to work independently and/or in a collaborative environment.
