Pee Dee Research and Education Center at Clemson University is seeking two qualified candidates for post-doctoral research associate positions. The post-doctoral research associates will conduct and coordinate regional projects on enhancing management of thrips, whiteflies and spider mites in vegetable production systems in the southeastern U.S.

Duties: Duties of this position will include
• Conduct and coordinate research on the compatibility of insecticides and pest-resistant tomato lines with biological control agents;
• Conduct and coordinate research on the resistance of tomato lines to major pests;
• Conduct and coordinate surveys on natural enemy diversity in tomatoes and cucurbits;
• Work directly with growers, extension agents and industry representatives on laboratory and on-farm research projects and educational programs;
• Supervise technical staff and student workers; and
• Publish in peer-reviewed journals, present papers and/or posters at professional conferences and extension meetings, and prepare project reports.

Location: The positions will be located at Pee Dee Research and Education Center (PDREC), Florence, SC. PDREC is a 2,300-acre campus located in the heart of South Carolina’s agricultural area. Florence is within easy access of urban centers (such as Charleston), beaches and natural landscapes of the Carolinas.

Wages and benefits: $50,000 per year plus associated benefits for two years


Ph.D. in Entomology or a closely related field.

Successful candidates are expected to demonstrate experience in conducting laboratory and field research, with a solid background in statistical analysis, to communicate effectively, and to work independently.
