City Colleges of Chicago (CCC) is made up of seven colleges, the largest community college system in Illinois and one of the largest nationally. Under the auspices of the Office of Institutional Advancement, the Marketing Department is responsible for the strategic planning and execution of internal and external programs that promote CCC's mission, programs, and special events. CCC Marketing is an in-house creative center offering solutions to all marketing and communication needs, working with offices and departments across the District to tell CCC’s story to a wide range of audiences, both internal and external. The department’s mission is to preserve and strengthen the reputation and brand of City Colleges of Chicago through a variety of communication mediums including print, digital, video, and social. 
PRIMARY OBJECTIVE 
Reporting to the Director of Creative Services, the Digital Content Creator edits and captures video footage by using various types of camera/video equipment; creates graphics, including motion graphics; and gathers materials, such as stock footage, images and music, to produce video content that serves various City Colleges of Chicago and college-specific needs. This is done in an effort to showcase and reinforce the CCC brand to both internal and external audiences. Performs related duties as required. 
ESSENTIAL DUTIES 
•Develops original content to promote CCC, including but not limited to programs, blog posts, web content, display advertising and social media, utilizing a mix of traditional and new media storytelling elements including video, text, still photography, slideshows, web functionality, and more. •Works closely and efficiently with digital and social teams to ensure content is completed in a timely manner, is on brand, contains accurate information and supports intended initiatives. •Identifies current digital trends as they relate to video content strategy. •Helps conceptualize, script, storyboard, pre-produce and edit digital video projects in support of departmental and CCC-wide objectives, and as identified by the Director of Creative Services. •Uses non-linear editing computer system to review image sources in videotape and digital formats and applies creative and technical editing skills to assemble pieces of footage together and create finished products.  •Uses motion graphics software to create graphics to enhance video content production. •Works closely with the Director of Creative Services during editing sessions, following directives and specifications for selecting, arranging and combining recorded footage for use in video content. •Reviews edited video content to determine if corrections are necessary or to insert additional music, dialogue or sound effects.•May operate cameras and shoot footage for remote or in-studio productions. •Informs staff of any problems with technical quality or equipment malfunctions found during editing process. •Performs other duties as assigned by management

Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS •Bachelor’s degree in Television Production, Communications, Journalism, or other appropriate field from an accredited college or university, plus three years of work experience in video editing. •A combination of education and experience may be taken into consideration based on the applicant’s credentials. •Editing experience using Avid Media Composer, Adobe Premiere and Interplay required. •Motion graphics experience using Adobe After Effects required. •Graphic design experience using Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and Adobe InDesign highly desirable. •Must be computer proficient with knowledge of a variety of software programs. •Knowledge of non-linear edit systems and sound generating software  •Knowledge of professional video production procedures, practices and techniques •Knowledge of various video formats •Knowledge of video editing techniques and practices •Knowledge of still and motion graphics •Knowledge of digital and DSLR cameras •Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills •Strong video editing skills •Strong still and motion graphics skills •Excellent organizational and administrative skills •Skill in the use of technical editing equipment and studio cameras •Demonstrated ability to perform quality video editing •Ability to work with and relate to a culturally diverse student body and staff •Ability to work effectively with different levels of staff within the organization •Ability to work independently and in a team environment
Chicago residency is required for all full-time employees within 6 months of hire.
