Duties and ResponsibilitiesSTUDENT ACTIVITIES COORDINATOR - PART TIMEMALCOLM X COLLEGE

Student clubs, groups and organizations at each campus are as diverse as its student population and provide enriching experiences for students of all interests. Student activities promote student growth and leadership development, and help to create a dynamic and engaging student campus life.
Reporting to a Director of Student Activities, a Coordinator-Student Activities assists in the overall development of student organizations and the implementation of student activities, working collaboratively with student leaders, club advisors, and administrators to ensure the quality and success of student clubs and organizations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
  • Plans and executes student centered activities and campus events in coordination with key administrators, Student Government Association (SGA), and recognized student clubs, groups, organizations,and their advisors.
  • Ensures SGA and student clubs, groups,and organizations comply with policies and procedures of the SGA and Student Club Operational Manual, and the Academic and Student Policy Manual. 
  • Monitors student activities to ensure adherence to relevant policies. 
  • Assists in the application and/or renewal process for clubs, groups, and organizations. 
  • Assists the Director in coordinating and providing student leadership and club advisor training workshops.
  • Reviews flyers, posters, and other materials prepared by students for on campus distribution to ensure compliance with CCC rules and procedures.
  • Participates in the development of marketing strategies to promote events/activities and maximize student involvement. Processes paperwork and provides logistical support for student events including scheduling facilities and space, obtaining audio-visual equipment, and securing other resources. 
  • The management of Ventra U-Pass for students is a function shared by varying degrees between the Office of Student Services and other departments based on a college’s operational needs. As directed, this position will assist the Director of Student Activities with the eligibility review and processing of Ventra U-Pass Card requests; distribute cards to eligible students; and troubleshoot issues. 
  • May participate and provide support, activities, or presentations to other college programs and events such as student orientations or alumni events.
  • May oversee the operations of a campus’ Student Activities Center (e.g. student union, game room, recreational center, etc.), overseeing student workers and ensuring adherence to rules and procedures for use of facilities by students.
  • Performs related duties as assigned.


Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited college or university in higher education, student affairs or a related field.
  • Two years or more of work experience in comparable student life / student affairs work desirable 
  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) 
  • Knowledge and moderate level of proficiency in the use of gaming systems
