Bachelor’s degree. Two years college and/or professional Track & Field and Cross Country coaching experience with strong college recruiting experience.

Purpose of Job

Individual is responsible for coordinating the Men’s and Women’s Track & Field and Cross Country, including developing/managing the teams budgets, scheduling tournaments, traveling with the teams and coaching at tournaments and various administrative and coaching tasks associated with collegiate Track & Field and Cross Country.

Scope of Responsibilities

Individual will coach all aspects of the Men’s and Women’s Track & Field and Cross Country Program, Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of both Men’s and Women’s Track & Field and Cross Country Programs in accordance with the University, NCAA and SWAC policies and guidelines.

Essential Job Functions

•Plan, organize and conduct all practices for both Men’s and Women’s Track & Field and Cross Country Teams, including daily coaching and management at all practice sessions and games.
•Organize game preparation for each contest.
•Recruit qualified student athletes for successful participation.
•Demonstrate leadership, sportsmanship, and conduct becoming of the coaching profession adhering to all University, SWAC and NCAA professional sport association guidelines.


•Bachelor’s degree
•Two years college and /or professional Track & Field and Cross Country coaching experience with strong college recruiting experience.
•Knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations preferred.
•An equivalent combination of Education and experience will be considered.
•Must have a familiarity with computer systems, good oral and written communication skills, strong organizational. Management and supervisory skills.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities

•Knowledge of how to deal with discretion in confidential and sensitive issues, ability to solve problems and work independently.
•Must have knowledge of the following programs: Excel, Word, Outlook etc.
•Must have competent writing skills including excellent grammar, spelling and punctuation.
•Must possess strong customer service skills including the ability to accurately assess and handle phone calls and visitor request with discretion and a positive attitude.
•Ability to prioritize duties and be organized, and detail oriented
