Job Details

The Department of Geography at the University of North Alabama invites applications for a tenure-track position at the Assistant or Associate Professor level to begin in August 2020. The successful candidate will be a broadly-trained geographer with a specialization in Remote Sensing and capable of teaching both introductory and advanced Remote Sensing courses. Experience with LiDAR and UAVs is desirable. Applicants with topical expertise in natural resources, environmental hazards, or ecology are preferred, as is the ability to teach statistics/quantitative methods courses. All faculty are expected to be able to teach introductory courses in physical, human, and world regional geography. The standard teaching load is four courses per semester and may be a combination of in person and online courses. A PhD in geography or closely related discipline is required by the employment start date in August 2020. UNA expects faculty to be enthusiastic, energetic, collegial, and student-centered, with an emphasis on teaching undergraduate students. Established in 1830 as LaGrange College, the University of North Alabama has a rich history including the distinction of being the first state-supported teachers college in the South. The school's 130-acre campus is located in the historic district of Florence, Alabama, on the Tennessee River.
