The Theater Department at SUNY Buffalo State is seeking an assistant professor (tenure track) in the area of Directing/Acting, to begin August 2020.

The appointee will teach three undergraduate courses per semester in directing, acting and other courses within the candidate’s are of expertise; direct one main stage production per year as a course release; engage in scholarly research and/or creative activity; advise students; and participate in department, college, and community service.

Required Qualifications:

M.F.A. or terminal degree; college-level teaching experience; ability to teach directing and various levels and styles of acting, (i.e. stage, screen, etc.); experience directing at the collegiate level and/or professionally.

Preferred Qualifications:

Substantial professional theater and/or tv and film experience; a record of commitment to diversity; experience teaching a diverse student body. Preference given to those with a secondary area of expertise such as (but not limited to) stage management, voice, movement, script analysis, musical theater, acting for the camera, improvisation, fight direction.
