Join Our Team. The Lamar University Pathway Program is now hiring Part-Time IEP Instructors (Intensive English Program) to join their team. In this role, you will be responsible for teaching intensive English courses. Language instructors will plan, organize, and facilitate in a manner to promote and guide successful student knowledge/skill acquisition, either on-campus or at off-campus sites, in keeping with Lamar Universities learning-centered values and goals. Instructors will also guide successful language acquisition in keeping with the Communicative Approach to foreign language instruction.

Duties & Responsibilities:
Responsible for teaching in a continuing education ESOL courses utilizing course LUPP prepared course materials. The instructor plans, organizes, and facilitates in a manner to promote and guide successful student knowledge/skill acquisition, either face-2-face or online, in keeping with Lamar University’s learning-centered values and goals. Language instructors guide successful language acquisition in keeping with the Communicative Approach to foreign language instruction.
Essential Job Functions:
1.Instructional / Classroom
a.Prepares for and conducts instructor-led courses and workshops utilizing the provided lesson plans, materials and technologies.
b.Maintains a safe classroom environment conducive to communicative, student-centered participation and knowledge/skill transfer.
c.Prepare and submits student-related forms (student evaluations; student/attendance forms; tracking and information forms, informal assessments, and other required student-related documents) for assigned students by directed timeline requirements.
d.Contact any student who has an unexplained absence to discuss progress, offer assistance, and encourage retention. Document contact with absent students.
a.Communicates effectively with administration via email and in person regarding student issues, teacher contracts, teaching schedules, and other program-related items.
b.Serves as a liaison between administration and students to communicate program information, student issues, schedule updates, and related organized activities, as necessary.
c.Follows department guidelines and manuals on student homework, assessment, grading, and closing out courses.
d.Participates in implementing policies, guiding principles, objectives, and functions by the philosophy of Lamar University Pathway Program.
e.Familiar with and maintains behavior and actions consistent with college policies and practices.
a.May participate in and contribute to curriculum development by planning, developing, and evaluating new and existing courses and curriculum.
b.Keeps current on discipline-specific methodology and implements new ideas into classroom instruction. Integrates feedback from department administration to improve student learning.
c.Participates in training and professional development programs as required by the department and maintains professional development/growth according to personal needs and certification requirements.
4.Performs other duties as assigned.
Desired Qualities & Characteristics:
The ideal candidate will have:
1.A Master’s degree in TESOL, English, or Education – or – BA degree in TESOL, English, or Education + have complete 18 graduate credit hours of ESOL related coursework and a CELTA/DELT Certificate
2.3+ years of teaching experience (abroad preferred)
3.Appropriate facilitation/instruction experience for a particular teaching position
4.High-level fluency and pronunciation in the target language
5.A demonstrated commitment to equity and inclusion
6.Excellent communication skills – Ability to explain concepts at a variety of levels.
7.Demonstrate professionalism in teaching students.
8.Ability to work independently and takes the initiative on assigned projects.
9.Strong work ethics with a desire to be part of a collaborative learning environment
10.Ability and desire to appropriately modify instructional approaches to address student needs promptly, and to receive and implement feedback on improving one’s teaching skills.

Hours & Availability:
Each course has 24 contact hours, 12 office hours, 12 prep/ grading hours over 8 weeks. Classes meet two-three times per week for 1-1.5 hours each session. Classes times are flexible and depend on student enrollment.
MWF – 9:00 AM – 12:30 PM, 5:30 – 8:30 PM
TR – 9:30 AM – 12:30 PM; 2:20 – 3:40 PM
