This professional position develops new business relationships and coordinates customized training for business and industry, which will be held on-site at various companies and at Governors State University (GSU). In cooperation with academic colleges, this position also coordinates professional development for individuals in need of continuing education units (CEU’s). The duties of this job improve accessibility to higher education and increase continuing education offerings. This position is responsible for marketing and planning workshops, certificate programs, and various in-demand training to both on campus and outreach communities. Responsibilities will include maintaining partnerships and cultivating relationships with a variety of client populations, i.e. hospitals, school districts, government, non-profit, and trade associations. The new Director of Corporate and Community Education must collaborate with School of Extended Learning staff to support and promote other initiatives within the unit.

Starting Salary Range: $50,505.00 to $60,000.00.
(This is a non-negotiated position. Salary starts at the base and is determined based on Education and Experience exceeding the minimum qualifications).

Minimum Qualifications

REQUIRED: COLLEGE/UNIVERSITY TRANSCRIPTS, WHICH INCLUDES THE EARNED DEGREE AND CONFERRED DATE MUST BE ATTACHED FOR CONSIDERATION OF THIS POSITION (See “Special instructions to applicants” section below)

1. Bachelor’s degree.

2. A total of three (3) years (36 months) in education, training and/or work experience in the area of specialization inherent to the position.

Note: Master’s Degree in an area consistent with the duties of the position may be substituted for one (1) year of work experience.

3. Based on position requirements, additional education, training, and/or work experience in the area of specialization inherent to the position, may be required.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s degree.

• Minimum of five years related professional experience.

• Understanding of adult education theory, training, and program development.

• Evidence of strong organizational, management, and administrative skills.

• Strong interpersonal and written communication skills.

• Ability to work independently and as a member of a team.

• Able to work with people from diverse backgrounds, and establish effective relationships with faculty, students, staff, and clients.

• Computer savvy and high comfort level with technology.
