Description:
The Materials Science and Engineering Department at the University of Washington invites applications for a full-time research faculty position (12 month service period) at the rank of Research Assistant Professor. The successful candidate will be expected to supervise graduate and undergraduate students, provide classroom instruction for graduate and undergraduate courses, if needed, engage in relevant service activities, and collaborate with other members of the Materials Science and Engineering faculty. University of Washington faculty engage in teaching, research and service. This position is not tenure-track. The anticipated start date will be January 2, 2020.

Qualifications:
An earned PhD or ScD, or foreign equivalent, in engineering, physics, chemistry or related discipline is required. The successful candidate is expected to show multiple years of support at the time of hiring and to obtain significant research funding from government agencies and/or private industry after the start of his/her association with the Department because the position is self-supporting entirely through external grants or contracts. To be considered, applicants must have demonstrated the ability to carry out theoretical and/or experimental research in materials science and engineering.
