The mission of the University of Denver Center for Collegiate Recovery (CCR) is to create a recovery-supportive DU community through student engagement, advocacy, and education. As a unit of the Health and Counseling Center (HCC), the CCR supports its mission to provide exceptional, inclusive, integrated health care. We promote student success and wellness through education, advocacy, and outreach to the University of Denver community. The HCC is an on-campus health facility open 8am-5pm M-F with evening hours until 7 pm two or more evenings a week during the academic year and provides a wide range of on-site medical and mental health services.

Position Summary

The Program Coordinator will support the Director of the Collegiate Recovery Center in developing and growing efforts related to students in recovery at the University of Denver. The CRC supports the community for students who are in recovery from substance use disorders and behavioral addictions. The Program Coordinator will support this initiative and the Director of the CCR through sustaining and expanding a campus-based infrastructure to empower recovering students by providing support and relapse prevention initiatives, and promoting academic excellence. The Center for Collegiate Recovery offers a community lounge, alcohol and drug-free social events, recovery housing, recovery support meetings, peer mentoring, and educational seminars and events. The Collegiate Recovery Community is a supportive environment within the campus culture that reinforces the decision to pursue recovery. It is designed to provide academic excellence alongside recovery support to ensure that students do not have to sacrifice one for the other.

The Coordinator will manage the day to day operations of the Collegiate Recovery Community, student events and activities, inquiries about the program, management of the space, and responding to questions about the University and programmatic issues. The CRP Coordinator will also assist CRC members in their transition into school and out of school, as well as help them navigate the University by connecting them with resources both on and off campus. Other duties include providing one on one support to the students and serving as a point of contact for students, parents, faculty, and staff, and deliver outreach and educational presentations.

This position does not provide clinical services for students in recovery. Instead, the Coordinator will focus on nurturing a community for students in recovery from alcohol and other drugs alongside the Director. Additionally, the Coordinator will be responsible for solidifying recovery programming and meetings on campus. The CRC Coordinator will also be responsible for collaborating with recovery organizations and with the University of Denver Health Promotion team to implement substance-free programming and harm reduction strategies for the entire student population. Harm reduction strategies include a campus-wide Opioid Overdose Prevention program led by the Coordinator. This person will serve as a resource to accommodate the full spectrum of addictive behaviors and alcohol and other drug use for students at DU.

This role is a full-time, 37.5 hour a week, 12-month, benefited position and reports to the Director of the Center for Collegiate Recovery. This position requires frequent after-hour and weekend engagement.

Essential Functions

• Administrative Responsibilities (20%)
• Support CRC strategic plans, goals, and vision
• Maintain relationships between recovery program and critical campus partners (i.e., Housing and Residential Education, Learning Effectiveness Program, Student Outreach and Support, and the Disability Services Program)
• Schedule all recovery programming and recovery meetings for CRC
• Supervise any student volunteers, interns or workers
• Oversee CRC space and maintain a physical presence
• Work with Housing and Residential Education to support recovery housing for CRC students
• Conduct assessment and evaluation of the CRC programs
• Provide monthly and annual reports

Work Schedule

Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Evenings and weekends as required.
