The Department of Career and Informaton Studies at the University of Georgia is an actve, innovatve, and collaboratve group of scholars focused on research, creaton, and use of technologies to enrich people’s lives in schools, workplaces, and communites of the future. We have a passion for designing, doing research, publishing research in top journals, and seeking external funds to support it. We believe in workplace civility and respect for each other’s opinions and views.We ofer M.Ed. and Ed.S. degrees focused on K-12 educaton, an M.Ed.

Position Summary

The Department of Career and Information Studies at the University of Georgia invites applications for a position as an Assistant Professor of Learning, Design, and Technology to begin August 2020. The position is a tenure-track, academic year appointment with the possibility of summer employment. We are looking for candidates who have a vision for the future of the field and the role of learning analytics to support learning/performance in various educational contexts (B&I, higher education, government, K-12).

The successful candidate will:
1. Have expertise in the application of learning analytics to support learning/performance and will provide evidence of emerging or established leadership in the development and use of learning analytics grounded in a strong theoretical foundation for learning;
2. Establish an innovative research program in learning analytics to support learning/performance and publish in top-tier refereed journals;
3. Design and teach courses focused specifically on the practice and application of learning analytics in various educational contexts as well as core courses in learning, design, and technology;
4. Establish and maintain interdisciplinary relationships with colleagues in related areas;
5. Contribute to currently funded projects;
6. Actively seek out new external funding to support the research goals of the program, department, college, and university.
Responsibilities:
1. Establish and maintain a program of scholarly research and publication;
2. Actively seek external grant opportunities to support scholarship;
3. Teach graduate courses;
4. Advise graduate students and supervise graduate student research;
5. Provide service to the college, university, profession, and public.

Additional Requirements

●A doctorate in Learning, Design, and Technology or Instructional Technology, or a related area earned by the start date.
●Evidence (established/emerging) of expertise in learning analytics to support learning/performance in various educational contexts (B&I, higher education, government, K-12).

Relevant/Preferred Education, Experience, Licensure, and/or Certification

●At least one year of experience teaching at the graduate level face-to-face as well as in online environments.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies

●Innovative research program in the area of learning analytics to support learning/performance in various educational contexts.
●Success with securing external funding.
●Leadership in current efforts and future directions of learning analytics to support learning/performance in various educational contexts.
●Record of ability to work collaboratively with faculty throughout the university on STEM-related projects or demonstrated potential.
●Demonstrated potential to establish and maintain collaborative relationships in various educational contexts.
●An active record of scholarship and productivity commensurate with experience.
●Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
