Special Instructions to Applicants
Full-time custodian position in Housing & Residence Life; 90 day probationary period.

Job Summary
Performs routine manual work in cleaning, servicing, and stocking supplies in Housing and Residence Life buildings.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Sweeps, mops, and waxes floors and vacuums and shampoos rugs and carpets in assigned areas as needed.
  2. Cleans rest rooms, offices, and replenishes supplies such as toilet paper and paper towels.
  3. Washes windows, walls, and other assigned areas.
  4. Picks up trash, empties garbage containers, and removes all trash to areas for disposal.
  5. Sanitizes all trash containers as necessary to meet Health Department requirements.
  6. Cleans and polishes brass, drinking fountains and glass doors and performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or general education degree (GED).

Preferred Qualifications
Prefer 2 years of work experience in similar or related field of work, familiarity with computer based time clock and familiarity with maintenance work order systems.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Individual must be able to perform each essential duties satisfactorily.

Utilizes scrubber machine, standard and hi speed floor machine, wet vac, carpet extraction, foaming units and University vehicle. Also uses standard hand tools such as hammers, screwdrivers and pliers.
