The Senior Associate Director of Employer Engagement & Recruiting will lead the employer engagement and recruiting function for the five UNC Kenan-Flagler MBA programs, as well as for the School-wide alumni population. This position directly manages employer outreach, business development, strategy sessions, communications, recruiting events, and the overall employer strategy for the department.

The position will work to build new relationships, expand existing relationships and serve as an ambassador for UNC Kenan-Flagler. Specifically, the Senior Associate Director will partner with companies in specific industries, as well as lead staff who manage additional industries, to identify talent needs that can be filled through internship and full-time career opportunities for students and alumni as well as speakers for classes and program engagements. This position also utilizes contact management software and/or technology to extend employer communications.

The Senior Associate Director will report to the Executive Director of Career & Leadership for MBA & Alumni. This person will lead the Employer Engagement & Recruiting team, and work collaboratively with the Career Coaching team, the Leadership Development team, other degree programs, advancement, business partnerships, faculty, centers, students and alumni of UNC Kenan-Flagler. The Senior Associate Director will manage several employees who work within the Employer Engagement and Recruiting department.

Educational Requirements

Bachelor’s degree required with 5 years of experience in business development, recruiting, HR or related field; master’s degree in business or related field is preferred.

Qualifications and Experience

Requires minimum of 5 years in a client-facing role; demonstrated success in building external client relationships and comfort with cold calls; sales skills and the ability to effectively and enthusiastically represent UNC Kenan-Flagler to targeted organizations; strong interpersonal and listening skills with an ability to communicate with a variety of clients at all levels including executives, alumni and recruiting professionals; professional demeanor; organizational, prioritization and project management skills; attention to detail; ability to work under pressure; flexibility with changing demands, fluctuating workloads and multiple priorities; people management skills; team orientation; strong persuasion skills; metrics orientation; exceptional presentation and written communications skills; demonstrated ability to manipulate and analyze large data sets in Excel, utilize pivot tables, and manage contact databases; and a willingness to travel 20 -30%. Preferred qualifications include prior experience with MBA program or university recruiting; extensive knowledge of the MBA hiring process, industries, functions and hiring practices; knowledge of MBA recruiting systems and technologies; strong leadership skills and management experience; prior experience in market research and analysis; prior event management experience; online marketing experience and familiarity with use of social media in a business context a plus, and knowledge of 12Twenty and Salesforce is a plus. Previous recruiting, talent management, business development, corporate relations and/or employer relations experience with progressive levels of responsibility is strongly preferred.
