General Description / Primary Purpose

The School of Engineering at the University of North Florida (UNF) invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position in the new Advanced Manufacturing Engineering Program, which is expected to launch in 2021. The position will be at the Assistant Professor level, with a preferred start date of August 2020. An earned doctorate in mechanical or electrical engineering, or other closely related field, with a specialization in industrial automation and controls is required, with preference given to direct application to manufacturing. A bachelor’s degree in manufacturing, mechanical or electrical engineering, or closely related field, is also required.

A bachelor’s degree in mechanical or electrical engineering, or closely related field, is also required.

Departmental Requirements

Preference will be given to candidates with demonstrated research experience in the application of advanced automation, robotics, and controls to industrial manufacturing systems. Candidates are also expected to demonstrate the ability to teach both classical and emerging topics in industrial controls, robotics, and material handling. A commitment to excellence in teaching and research, as well as the development of an externally funded research program, will be expected of the successful candidate. Collegiality, active service and participation in governance in accordance with the vision and mission of the school, college and university are also expected.
