STATUS:Part time – 12 hours per week
DEPARTMENT:Auxiliary Services
DIVISION:Business & Auxiliary Services
CLASSIFICATION:Non-exempt
UNION:Non-union
REPORTS TO:Event Coordinator & Scheduler
PLACEMENT: Support staff, grade MP03
MINIMUM PAY RATE:$12.97 per hour

POSITION SUMMARY
Present historical information related to education in a one-room schoolhouse and specific information related to the Cronin School. Greet visitors and answer guest inquiries in a professional manner. Communicate all matters pertaining to the maintenance of the schoolhouse and the overall schoolhouse field trip program with colleagues and supervisor.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1.Promote JJC in a positive manner.
2.Prepare and present accurate, engaging, and focused presentations.
3.Present to a variety of age groups, community groups, adults and children with physical, mental and/or emotional disabilities.
4.Present historical schoolhouse information utilizing a variety of instructional methods.
5.Collaborate with other presenters to learn historical information, present lessons and promote visits to the schoolhouse.
6.Respond in a professional manner to visitor inquiries.
7.Prepare schoolhouse with decorations for holiday visits.
8.Communicate questions, concerns and suggestions with supervisor and colleagues.
9.Ability to work with minimal supervision.
10.Perform related duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
1.High school diploma or equivalent.
2.Strong interpersonal communication skills.
3.Ability to accommodate fluctuating tour schedules.
4.Ability to present to a variety of age groups, community groups, adults and children with physical, mental and/or emotional disabilities

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
1.College degree/course work in Education or History related field.
2.Prior teaching experience.
3.Prior experience working with elementary or high school students.
4.Experience in or knowledge of a one-room schoolhouse.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
1.Ability to stand for extended periods of time.
2.Ability to walk a short distance outside and climb stairs without assistance.

WORKING CONDITIONS
1.Duties are performed indoors in a one-room school.

WORK SCHEDULE
•12 hours per week

The annual CLERY security compliance document along with the Fire Safety Report (FSR) and the Missing Person Policy (MPP) for students residing in “on campus” student housing is available at the JJC Police Department website :

If you would like to receive the ASR, FSR or MPP in booklet form, you may stop by the Campus Police Department located on Main Campus in G 1013 or call Campus Police at 815-280-2234. The website and booklet contain information regarding campus security and personal safety such as crime prevention and reporting, police law enforcement authority, disciplinary procedures and other related security policies. They also contain information about crime statistics for the three previous years for all JJC campuses, property owned and controlled by JJC District 525 and on public property immediately adjacent to JJC campuses.

This information is required by law and is made available by the Joliet Junior College Police Department.
