Position:

The College of Education at Towson University invites applications for a tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor level in the Department of Secondary and Middle School Education. The department offers undergraduate degree and certification programs in Middle and Secondary Education and an M.Ed. program in Secondary Education.

Qualifications:

The candidate should have at least 3 years of classroom experience teaching secondary students. The candidate should have demonstrated ability to effectively teach undergraduate courses on pedagogy at the middle and high school levels. The candidate should have experience with supervision of student teachers. The candidate should possess an earned doctorate with a focus in curriculum and instruction in secondary education, or a related field, and show evidence of scholarly potential. Preferred qualifications include: expertise in English as an Additional Language (EAL) for emergent bilinguals, knowledge of practice-based approaches to teacher education, knowledge of and experience writing teacher education program accreditation reports for CAEP, and the capacity for securing external grants. 

Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will be expected to make significant contributions to the College of Education’s mission and goals through (1) excellent teaching and advising;  (2) developing and reaching milestones toward a program of scholarship and research; and (3) significant service to the department by taking leadership responsibilities for enhancing programmatic offerings as well as serving on college and university committees.
