Gettysburg College is seeking a full-time manager for our new Innovation and Creativity Laboratory. This position will report to the Director of Educational Technology Department, part of the Information Technology division that supports campus academic and administrative technology operations and initiatives.
The ICL Manager is focused on immersing faculty and students in design thinking and an appreciation for creating and building. They will be responsible for engaging the Gettysburg community in programs that invite participants from all areas of the college to learn by doing as they tinker and create using science, engineering, technology and art:
Job requirements include:
•Passion and knowledge about the use of technologies to support creative, engaging learning
•The ability to develop innovative and novel content based around active, hands on learning in an inclusive setting
•Being an ambassador of the Innovation and Creativity Lab both on and off campus
•Experience working with college-age students both in- and outside typical classroom settings
•The ability to outreach to campus groups such as the Garthwait Leadership Center, the Center for Public Service, the Center for Career Engagement and others.
•Being able to train and develop student workers
•Seeking internal and external grant funding to support ICL activities
•Exploring opportunities to develop ICL activities with K-12 education and local communities

Qualifications

The successful candidate will possess at a minimum a Bachelor’s degree with experience in teaching through design thinking and prototyping or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience in outreach and project coordination with diverse groups both on and off campus is preferred. Prior experience in mentoring, organizing and managing design and engineering projects both at the individual level as well as a collaborative group is preferred.

The ICL Manager should have a working knowledge of some types of “makerspace” equipment and/or VR/AR development, such as:
•3D printers
•CNC machines
•Laser cutters
•Sewing machines
•Woodworking tools
•Virtual/augmented reality technologies such as Oculus, Vive or HoloLens
•VR/AR development tools such as Blender or Unity
•Arduino/RaspberryPi and simple electronics

    Gettysburg College Gettysburg College has been witness and participant to some of the most significant events in the history of our nation. Chartered in 1832 to provide education for the residents of south-central Pennsylvania, the College was a neighbor to fighting between Union and Confederate troops in July 1863. On July 1, math professor Michael Jacobs cancelled classes after telling his students that their minds were no longer on their lessons. Pennsylvania Hall, the College's first building, served during and after the Civil War battle as a hospital for the wounded, treating more than 700 Union and Confederate soldiers. On November 19, 1863, Gettysburg College students walked from Pennsylvania Hall into the historic town to hear President Abraham Lincoln deliver his legendary Gettysburg Address.

    Gettysburg CollegePresident Dwight D. Eisenhower was also closely associated with Gettysburg College. Following his presidency, he returned to Gettysburg to live and served the College as a member of its Board of Trustees. He wrote his memoirs in what is today the College's Admissions Office, now known as Eisenhower House.
