Meets weekly with assigned mentees and assists in their transition to achieve academic, personal, and career success on Georgia Southern University’s Statesboro Campus; develops one-on-one relationships with assigned mentees; provides coaching on how to be successful at the institution; connects mentees with appropriate resources; plans and implements educational programs that any student in the Peer Mentor Program can attend; plays a vital role on the support team of the Academic Success Center; attends bi-weekly staff meetings and one-on-one meetings with supervisor; attends and participates in trainings, programs, and activities and assists in the outreach/recruitment of new mentees for the Peer Mentor Program.

Shift Specifics: up to 10 hours per week.

Student employees cannot work more than 1300 hours in a 12-consecutive month
period.

Minimum Education Required

Must be enrolled in six or more undergraduate credit hours or three or more graduate credit hours at Georgia Southern University.

Effective communication (verbal and written), organization and human relations skills; ability to work well in a diverse environment; proficiency with computer and Microsoft Office Applications software including word processing, spreadsheets, and databases; successful completion of the background investigation process prior to employment.

Preferred Experience

A desire to work in developing the academic skills of students via mentoring, workshops, programming, and other outreach efforts.
